Patricia A. Kramer

Marriage & Family Therapist, Ed.S, LMFT

As a practicing therapist, with over ten years of experience, I believe people truly want to connect with their best possible selves.  Our experiences, relationships and environment all have lasting impacts on how we view ourselves and how we relate to others in our lives. It is in these relationships that fulfillment is found, however sometimes other factors may get in the way of that process. Navigating through the many roles we may have, coupled with stress, anxiety and expectation can prevent us from finding peace and contentment. It is this stress and anxiety that can hold us back and even prevent us from finding joy in our daily lives.  I help individuals, couples and families process what may be getting in the way of fully understanding their experiences, both past and present, so that stress and anxiety is less in control and positive relationships filled with understanding and good communication are. It is my belief that anxiety reduction, stress relief and positive communication can allow us to work towards goals and through obstacles in our lives. My focus is helping people discover the power within them, so that they may gain the necessary skills and tools to help them move towards significant others in their lives and find support, love and deep commitment to one another.

I hold an M.A. is counseling psychology, as well as an Ed.S., in systems theory from Seton Hall University. I am a New Jersey State licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Mindfulness Training. During my post graduate internship, I worked with the incarcerated population to help inmates discover the potential within them to make positive changes. It is during this training where I discovered just how damaging trauma, stress and chronic anxiety can impact, not only the individual, but the family system as a whole.

Currently in my private practice, I use an eclectic theoretical approach to help couples, individuals and families process what might be causing strain in their relationships as well as and explore healthy coping strategies in order to reach homeostasis. I believe once we alleviate the stress and anxiety that takes us away from balance, we are then able to fully focus on our goals.  Helping people discover solutions that work for them to find peace and satisfaction is my focus.
